Young Arts Bursaries Summer 2019

Through the good offices of the Head of Art at Hemel Hempstead School, Lauren Rayner, we are pleased to confirm that ADFAS Young Arts has awarded two Bursaries to her students who are going off to Art College.  These awards were presented at the school with various members of the Committee being present.

Holly Baldwin is going off to embark on a 3 year Fine Art course at Norwich University of the Arts.

The ADFAS Bursary presentation to Holly was made by Valerie Gunn, our Membership Secretary, with our Young Arts Coordinator, Pam Langdon-Pratt in attendance.

Holly will be using the funds provided to pay for the necessary equipment to support her course work and also acquire a Tablet ‘so that I could take it to wherever I need, and to be able to write things down, take photos, and document my discoveries’.

Fiona Hadley, another of Lauren’s star pupils is going off to Canterbury study Fine Art at the University for the Creative Arts (UCA).

She is very keen on art generally at 6th form level and was very impressed with the buildings that UCA operate their courses from in Canterbury.

Fiona needs to go with a very specific shopping list of equipment to begin her course properly and is delighted with the support the ADFAS Young Arts has provided to her.

Her Bursary presentation was made by Julie Griffiths, our Chairman with Pam and Valerie in attendance from ADFAS.

Both girls explained and showed off items of their work under the eye of ‘Miss’ who is obviously sad to see them leave Hemel School.

Hopefully these young ladies will keep in touch with Lauren and also with ADFAS.

We wish both of them the very best for their futures in the Art world.

Update from Fiona now well in to her Canterbury experience - she has sent ADFAS an item of her work!
